Switching Your Phone Provider

Switching Your Phone Provider

A Smooth and Hassle-Free Process

At Reliable PBX, we understand that as a business owner or project manager, you have concerns about switching your phone provider. You want the transition to be seamless without any downtime or disruptions. Rest assured, we've got you covered! Let's discuss the process involved in switching providers and how we ensure a smooth experience for you.

Porting Your Number:

When it comes to porting your existing phone number, there are a few variables to consider. If your current provider is partnered with us, we can likely transfer your number on the same day. You may need to request the port out information from your current provider, as they might have placed a port out pin on your account.

If we are not partnered with your current provider, we can schedule the port for a specific date and time that works for you. On the day of the port, we can activate the number whenever you like. With this, you can rest assured that you will have complete control over when that switch happens.

It's worth noting that while it is against FCC regulation for providers to block port-out requests due to unpaid balances, some may still attempt to do so. If your old provider blocks the port request, we will advocate on your behalf, although we may not have control over the outcome.

Creating and Recording Your Script:

We offer a free professional recording service for your phone system (up to 200 words). However, please keep in mind that professional recordings may take up to 3 days to complete. If you're in a hurry, we can start with a robotic recording and switch to the professional one later. Just make sure you have your script ready to go to avoid any last-minute hiccups.

Setting Up Your System on the Backend:

Setting up your phone system requires some time, which can range from as little as 10 minutes to a couple of days. The setup time depends on two factors: the number of extensions you have and how clear you are with the system setup instructions.

The backend setup process does not involve programming any phones or porting numbers. We can take care of the entire system setup for you and provide a temporary number for testing purposes. If you have a company Excel sheet with the necessary information (name, extension number, email address for app login), simply share it with us, and we'll have you up and running in no time.

Programming the Phones:

Programming your phones can also take some time, but don't worry, we're here to assist you. We can guide you through the process of resetting your phone so that it automatically connects to our servers.

Option 66, the ideal solution for enterprise users, allows for automatic phone reprogramming upon reboot. If your business-grade router supports Option 66, we can utilize this feature to reprogram all your phones quickly. In case your router doesn't support Option 66, we do offer our routers for purchase, and we'll handle the programming for you.

For most phones, we only require the MAC address and phone model to program them. However, if you used Yealink phones with your previous provider, we may need them to remove the phone from their Yealink portal. If they are unable, we can utilize the serial number and MAC address and remove it on our end.

If your current router is from your previous provider, please request the router password from them. If they cannot provide the password, you have the option to purchase a new router from us. Alternatively, you can ask your previous provider how to reset the router. After all, you paid for the router, so they should give you access.

No Downtime Guaranteed!

To ensure a seamless transition, we can provide you with a temporary number once your account is fully set up. This allows you to test your entire system and even forward your existing number to the temporary one until the porting process is completed. Once the porting is done, your number will continue working without any changes on your end.

At Reliable PBX, we strive to make switching phone providers as easy and stress-free as possible. Our dedicated team will work closely with you throughout the entire process, ensuring effective communication and a successful transition.

We look forward to working with you soon!
